What to expect in COR 1: Wind, rain, danger

When Condition of Readiness 1 is declared, damaging winds are occurring or expected within 12 hours.

The weather is not going to get better. You need to get off the road and make any last adjustments to your emergency plan. You should be in your home, a shelter or another safe location.

You can expect outdoor ATMs to be closed and most buildings to be secure.

The power is likely to go out, and crews will not be able to make repairs until the winds die down. Flooding may occur.

Street lights and traffic signals will likely be out of order, and roads may contain debris.

Do not venture out until the all-clear is given.
